Last weekend saw the final race in the English Junior Fell Championships take place on the Howgill Fells in Sedbergh. It was a testing course with a gruelling uphill finish for the U19s which saw many competitors walking in. Buxton Juniors had yet another strong team turn out. In the U9s Georgia Cudahy finished 5th place with older sisters Hannah Cudahy (30th in U13s) and Rachel Cudahy finishing 22nd in the U15s. Whilst teammate Lucy Whelan finished 31st. In the U17s, Connie Jenneson had an excellent race to finish 5th. Grace Longden had her worst race of the season finishing 14th after recently coming back from injury. Whilst Rebecca Cudahy finished 16th overall. In the U19s Will Longden rounded his season off with a bronze medal position. In the girls, Amy Whelan finished 4th with a super strong uphill sprint finish. Both Will and Amy have been studying all summer for their A-levels alongside training! Will Longden and younger sister Grace have both finished in gold medal positions in the championship in their respected age categories for 2022. The Buxton U17 girls team consisting of Grace Longden, Connie Jenneson and Rebecca Cudahy, won the U17 girls team gold for the league.
