Each year, the Club is allocated a number of confirmed places in the following year’s London Marathon. The number of places we are given is dependent on the number of Club Members, and currently we are allocated three places. They have to be paid for by the individuals who get them, but are guaranteed places. A ballot is held each year at the Club’s Christmas Party (end November/early December), and the criteria for inclusion in the ballot is as follows:
- You must have applied and been rejected for the year in question (and provide your rejection slip to the Club Secretary or Club Treasurer)
- You must not have had a Club place within the last 3 years
- You must have helped at either the Club Half Marathon or Carnival Race in the year of application (or provided help in your place).
- You must have helped on two occasions at the Pavilion Gardens 5K runs in the past year.
Note that this year’s places have been allocated, so this is mainly relevant for the 2016 Marathon, but please bear it in mind if you want to be considered at the ballot drawn in future years.
