The English Junior Fell Championship has kicked off for Buxton Athletic Club starting off with Duddon Dash. Two athletes undertook the long journey to this race with Connie Jenneson finishing 5th in the under 17s and Grace Longden finishing 4th in the under 19s on what were boggy and challenging courses.
The next race in the championship was Todd Crag at Ambleside and, despite it coinciding with the coronation, several juniors completed in what were fine running conditions and had some great performances. Georgia Cudahy kicked off the proceedings in the under 11 girls finishing 22nd followed by her sister, Hannah in the under 13 girls, who came 25th. Then it was the turn of the under 15s where Rachel Cudahy came 31st girl whilst Joel Tidmarsh came 17th and Will Aspinall came 25th in the boys. In the under 17 girls Connie Jenneson came 5th and Rebecca Cudahy came 25th and Grace Longden was 9th under 19 girl
Buxton ACs twice annual Jim’s Dream on mile was held in Pavilion Gardens with an amazing turnout of 23 juniors. Some very fast times were recorded with Will Aspinall finishing 1st male with a time of 5:36 and Connie Jenneson finishing 1st female with a time of 5:39.
Two of our juniors then competed for Buxton in the Derbyshire track and field mini league. Nola Colebrook took part in the 600m where she came 3rd and the howler javelin where she came 10th. Older sister, Erin Colebrook took part in the gained 2nd place in the 800m and long jump competitions and 1st in the discuss.
Erin returned to the track this last weekend for the County Track and Field Championships where she got through to the final of the under 15 girls 1500m finishing in 5.19.77 in 7th. Meanwhile, in the under 17 girls 1500m final, Connie Jenneson finished 3rdin a time of 5.21.64.
