Buxton AC juniors Sam Soles, Ellie Wilson and Elliott Meylan all represented themselves well in the trial race for the Junior Mountain Running Home Internationals last week.

The race was held in Arncliffe, North Yorkshire with male and female teams being selected in age U17 and U20 categories with the first 2 athletes in each category gaining automatic selection – the remaining athletes being selected via a panel.  England will be entering a team of 4 in each category with the potential for a Development team in each race being selected subject to appropriate standards being reached – with this selection race as the primary means of selection.

In the Under 17 Sam and Ellie both put in outstanding performances – Sam finishing 8th boy and Ellie 9th girl. In the under 20 race Elliott put in a strong performance to come in 16th.  The selectors will make their decision about teams in the next week and those selected will represent England at the Mountain Running Home Internationals in Glendalough, Ireland on 8th September.
