Buxton juniors have spent the last week of the Summer break indulging their love of running while on holiday all over the country – while others are lounging on the beach this bunch of committed youngsters have !been hitting the tarmac and trails far and wide!
Harry Bond raced in Keswick at the tough Lakeland Trail Challenge. The course is a 5Km circuit along trails, taking in panoramic views of Derwentwater, the surrounding peaks of Skiddaw and Blencathra and the northern fells. Harry had a great run to come in 2nd overall out of 75 runners.
Sam Soles at took on the challenging Fort William park run in Scotland – a 5km trail run through the Leanachan Forest in the Nevis Range, Torlundy. Sam won with a margin of 15 seconds missing out on a course record by just 8 seconds – 77 ran.
Sienna Miller broke her mini-break with a 5km run around Stanley park Blackpool. She finished 3rd female overall, 1st in her age category, out of a field of 181 runners.
Closer to home 6 Buxton juniors were at Whaley Bridge junior Parkrun this weekend. Rachel Cudahy led the team home as 2nd girl, followed by her sisters Rebecca – 3rd girl and Hannah 17th. Hannah ran a personal best time possibly due to battling against her school friend Jonah Newton who had a great run on his park run debut to finish 18th. Naomi Newton then finished having dragged her dad round in 24th position! 4 year old Georgia Cudahy not to be outdone by her older sisters had a strong run to get her 5th Personal Best out of 7 park runs to finish 29th overall.
