Saturday 13th July 2019 will see the seventh running of the new 4 mile route for the annual Carnival Day road race. The 2018 race was a typically joyful affair, run in partnership with the Thomas Theyer Foundation. 146 runners completed the course as they took the plaudits from the festive crowds. Notably, the throng along Spring Gardens and Burlington Road gave the athletes raucous support as they sped past on their way to the finish on the Market Place.
Once again, this year’s race will have a poignant air with many runners commemorating the lives of lost family and friends, including Buxton Junior AC’s own Thomas Theyer. A host of yellow shirts will represent the Thomas Theyer Foundation which has been set up to provide holiday lodges for disabled young people at the White Hall Centre. The profit from the 2018 race was donated to the work of the Foundation and we’ll be doing the same again this year.
