This weekend Buxton Carnival race saw Buxton juniors leading the way with Heather Wilshaw and Elliot Meylan taking the prizes for 1st male and female under 20.
On the track Sienna Philips represented Buxton at the Derby Mini-League in the 1500m taking the victory in a new personal best time! And on the fells Buxton’s Jack Cook, and Amy and Lucy Whelan ran in the Charlesworth and Chisworth Fell race, where Jack took the prize for 1st U11 boy, 11 year old Lucy was 4th girl U14 and 14 year old Amy ran in the adult race to come 2nd lady overall – 1st junior female!
The penultimate race in the Staffordshire Summer Series was held this week at Biddulph Grange Country Park. Buxton juniors put in another string of outstanding results and look set to dominate the prize giving at the series finale next week.
First back in the Junior race was Harry Bond who finished 2nd overall – 1st JM15. Hot on his tail was Jake O’Donnell who came in 3rd overall 1st JM12. Amy Whelan had a great run to finish 6th overall 2nd girl and 1st in her age category JF14. Heather Wilshaw was next Buxton junior to finish in 1st JF15, with Lucy Whelan 3rd JF11, Grace Bond 1st JF13 and Matt Rolfe 6th JM11.
In the U11 Fun Run Jonty Brown took another victory with team mate Noah Berge coming in 11th. Eden Pigott led the Buxton girls home coming 2nd girl overall, with the rest of the team packing well – Flo Brown in 6th, Emily Jones 7th, and Lena Goulding 8th.
