Running Bear Supports Buxton Juniors

Last weekend saw the last of the fell races that make up Buxton AC Juniors Fell Championships.  The youngsters had 5 fell races to have a go at with their best 3 performances counting towards the Championships.

The series has been sponsored by Running Bear – a leading running shop specialized in running shoes, online running clothing and runningaccessories, who supplied the prizes for all age categories – U9 to U17.  There was a great turn out for the series with 40 Buxton AC youngsters taking part in one or more of the races.  Prizes were awarded for boys and girls in each category.  Winning the under 17 series were Sam Soles and Ellie Wilson. The U15 category was won by Will Longden and Lucy Bednall.  Grace Longden won the under 13 girls category, with Henry Hazelhurst and Rachel Cudahy winning the under 11.  And in the under 9 age category Jimmy Golden and Lexi Tomlinson came out on top!   Also receiving prizes were Matt Rolfe, Molly Golden, Sienna Phillips and Rebecca Cudahy, all of whom completed all 5 races in the series.

Last Thursday was the next race in the Staffordshire Moorlands Summer Series at Rudyard Lake with yet another excellent set of results from Buxton.  Coming in 3rd overall and first in his age category (JM14) was Harry Bond followed closely by Jake O’Donnell who is currently 1st JM11 with a clean sheet of wins.  In 5th overall was Lucy Bednall who is also topping the girls league with another 1st girl performance.  Sienna Philips came in next in 9th overall – winning her age category of JF11 and Amy Whellan finishing 1st JF13.  Abbie Fryer-Winder came in 29th overall putting her in 2nd JF14.

Also this weekend saw the inaugural running of a new local fell race at Cock Hill where Buxton Junior Sam Soles had a great run to finish 2nd overall.  Also on Saturday Harry Bond put in an outstanding run at Congleton Parkrun where he finished 7th overall – 1st junior in a new Personal best time of 18.55.
