This week Buxton Athletic club were busy over their half term break with many races. Starting off the week on bank holiday Monday with the Darley dash 5k consisting of a speedy two lap dash of the motorbike track. First Buxton home was Joel Tidmarsh in 6th place, followed very soon after by Matthew Rolfe in 7th placed with his mum Katie Rolfe not far behind in 10th place. In 12th place was Gemma Tredwell and Tracy Gregory in 16th place having earlier in the day run the 3k race that was also on offer where she came 5th.
Some of the seniors chose to head for a much hillier run for the bank holiday, competing in the Bamford Sheep Dog Trials Fell Race. The first of the Buxton runners home was Richard Bouglas in 94th place, then Ross Martland in 144th followed by Heather Haggis in 145th. Pete Bailey finished in 191st and Heather Fryer-Winder with 215th.
On Thursday evening, three of the juniors started off the first race of the Staffordshire Moorlands Summer Series at Tittesworth Reservoir. Jonty Brown finished 2nd followed by Joel Tidsmarsh in 3rd place then Rebecca Cudahy with 2nd female. In the senior race, which took in a lap of the reservoir, first Buxton back was Rob LLoyd in 10th place. Kate Brown was 132nd whilst Nichola Sargeant and Rachel Dowle came in together to claim 198th and 199th places respectively.
On Sunday, a group of seniors competed travelled to Derby for the Ramathon Half Marathon. First to finish was Dave Finch in 36th place, also taking 2nd male vet over 55, then Callum D’Souza in 191th. In 205th place was Andy Lidstone followed by Katie Rolfe with 287th and Paul Markall in 304th place. Shelia Bradley was the third female vet 60 finishing in 743rd place , Tracy Gregory in 1184th and Heather Fryer-Winder with 1295th position.
The Bednall mother and daughter duo. took part in the Passing Clouds fell race, a challenging race which starts at Tittesworth Reservoir and climbs over the Roaches and Hen Cloud. Fresh back from injury, Lucy finished as 4th lady whilst her mum, Jo, came 4th lady and 1st female vet over 55.
