Busy Week on the Hills For Buxton Juniors

It’s been a fantastic week of great running from the Buxton AC Junior team!

Two races on Thursday saw 15 year old Stu Diamond leading the Buxton seniors home at Sheldon Fell race coming 10th overall – 2nd junior male.  Meanwhile over at Oakamoor Buxton’s junior team taking part in the Staffordshire Moorlands Summer series all put in great performances.  Lucy Bednall continued her winning streak with another first girl placing, with Sienna Phillips coming in 3rd girl overall winning her age category.  Amy Whelan was 4th girl overall also winning her age group.  These 3 girls are also the leading girls team in the overall series with only one race to go!  Abbie Fryer-Winder came in 7th girl with teammate Ava Hazelhurst in 10th – Lucy, Abbie and Amy were 1st Junior girls team aged 14 years.  Grace Bond completed the team finishing 8th overall and 2nd in her age category.  Harry Bond added another age category victory consolidating his overall position as 1st junior male 14.

In the under 11 Fun Run Lucy Whelan came in 3rd girl, with Jim Burgess in 10th and Jimmy Golden 12th.  Jim Burgess also had a great run and swim at the Aquathon this weekend winning his age category!

Also this weekend the Buxton park runners put in outstanding performances with Sam Soles putting in a personal best performance to come in 2nd overall at Lyme Park – 1st junior.  Amy Whelan also came 2nd lady overall 1st junior lady.  Over at Macclesfield Parkrun Matt Rolfe ran a great 5k to finish 149th overall 4th junior under 10 years old.  Over at Brough park run the Buxton girls team of Sienna Philips and Grace Bond came in 1st and 2nd in the 2.2km race with Harry Bond winning the 5km race.

And finally at Kerridge Climb Fell Race on Saturday Buxton’s Amy Whelan had a great run to finish 1st lady with sister Lucy winning the under 11 girls race.
