The Wincle Trout Run is a demanding 9km fell run in the picturesque Dane Valley, crossing woodlands, river and moorlands. Buxton’s Lucy Bednall took on the tough 3km junior race – managing an epic victory for the third year in a row!
Buxton superstar Bednall is having an outstanding season on the fells with string of local victories and seems set on a podium finish in the English Junior Fell Championships.
Team mates Jonty Brown, Harry and Grace Bond also had great runs at Wincle – a race renowned for it’s prizes of a fresh trout for each finisher! Jonty warmed up at Glossop Parkrun in the morning before taking on the joys at Wincle finishing 1st under 12. Harry had a great run finishing 2nd overall – same position as last year, with sister Grace coming in 16th overall – 4th under 14 girl.
Over at Lyme Park Parkrun Sam Soles took his 18th victory with team mate Heather Wilshaw coming in 4th lady – 1st Junior female. Being on a Cornish holiday didn’t stop the Whelan sisters from getting their Parkrun training in! Amy came in an impressive 15th overall – 2nd female, while Lucy came 76th – 4th in her age category at Lanhydrock Parkrun.
