A record breaking 31 Buxton AC juniors took part in the Club’s biannual “Jim’s Dream On Mile” race.
And the records didn’t stop there with overall victor, Buxton junior, Sam Soles smashing his own U17 course record by 14 secs breaking the 5 min barrier on a very twisting course to run 4:51 and finishing 1st overall, ahead of the seniors. The fastest junior female – Ellie Wilson ran a personal best performance to come in second female. It was an evening of personal best performances with 15 juniors running the course in PB times – Emily Wentworth smashed her PB by 2 mins 16 secs, Georgia Cudahy by 1 min 57, and Flo Brown by 1 min 2 secs!! Other juniors running PB times were, Harry Bond (33s), Jimmy Golden (29s) Molly Golden (24s) Rachel Cudahy (14s) Sienna Phillips (12s) Heather Wilshaw (12s) Matt Rolfe (9s) Jonty Brown (5s) Henry Hazelhurst (3s) and Liam Jones (2s)
Sam Soles continued his outstanding form into the weekend where he came 2nd in the Chicken Run Fell race. At just under 10 km and over 1000ft of climb over mixed terrain – it certainly isn’t a race for the faint hearted! At just 16 Sam was one of the youngest runners but he absolutely smashed it! Also having amazing runs were fellow juniors Jacob Winfield and Jacob Miller who came in 4th and 8th overall – the lad taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd U19 out of a total of 135 runners.
Meanwhile at a gloriously sunny Lyme Park parkrun Buxton Juniors Stuart Diamond and Heather Wilshaw had fantastic runs – Stu finishing 2nd overall 1st junior male and Heather finishing first lady!
